"The tutors were incredible, all bursting with information and energy. To us they were seen more as friends than teachers and this is what made the group so cohesive... To me it was worth every single penny, actually a lot more."
AMH - Summer '09
AHA makes it happen
Taught over one week in London (with optional visits to Paris, Venice or Amsterdam at the weekend), students will have tutorials in the major museums, private collections, exclusive galleries, artist studios, auction houses and public spaces.
This course is all about hands-on study, in places such as the Gagosian, the Tate Museums, White Cube, the East End galleries and the Serpentine Gallery. The course is restricted to 20 students split into tutorial groups of 10 in order that everyone can truly be involved. Students are generally aged 17-25, but we are getting an increasing number of adults and professionals on this course.
Teaching time on the course amounts to at least 42 hours (approx 8 weeks of A level tuition). In addition, we organise four special evening outings which may include gallery openings, one-off exhibitions or avant-garde film screenings.
Structured themes
The course is divided into themes, chief amongst which is a who’s who of artists and the main movements. We also examine different types of art, including installation, performance, sculpture and complete interior design. Likewise we study the different demands on architecture from iconic buildings to the prestigious office complex, museums, restaurants and private houses. We peer into the future by considering technology and eco-architecture.
Aside from what we study on-site, there are the colleges, the critics and the market to consider.
