Florence Itinerary

Day 1 (Monday)
Flight to Florence and afternoon passeggiata to explore the area and introduction to the city.
Day 2 (Tuesday)
Children
am Marble and Mosaics: The Cathedral, Baptistery and a climb up to the top of the Dome.
pm Florentine Sculpture: Story-telling and drawing with Donatello, Brunelleschi and Michelangelo at the Bargello and Orsanmichele.
Parents
am Florentine History; the state, economic power and the cradle of the Renaissance: The Palazzo Vecchio and the Piazza della Signoria.
pm The power of private patronage. Maths, space and status: The Brancacci Chapel, Santa Maria Novella, Palazzi Ruccellai and Strozzi.
Day 3 (Wednesday)
Children
am Drawing and Myths in the Uffizi: Introduction to Giotto, Simone Martini, Gentile da Fabriano, Uccello, Piero, Lippi, Botticelli, Leonardo and Michelangelo.
pm Walk up to the monastery of San Miniato. Try your hand at mosaic making.
Parents
am The Church, Civic Pride and Engineering prowess: The Cathedral, Brunelleschi's dome, the Baptistery and the Duomo Museum.
pm The Uffizi Gallery - Florentine Painting from 1300 - 1500. Giotto, Simone Martini, Gentile da Fabriano, Uccello, Piero, Lippi, Botticelli, Leonardo and Michelangelo.
Day 4 (Thursday)
Children
am A Modern Genius - Michelangelo: David at the Accademia, the New Sacristry and the secret cell.
pm Picnic lunch in the Boboli gardens and explore the grotto and fountains.
Parents
am Medici Family History and Patronage: The Palazzo Medici and the monastery of San Marco with frescoes by Benozzo Gozzoli and Fra Angelico and the church of San Lorenzo.
pm Florentine Sculpture: Donatello, Brunelleschi, Ghiberti, Verrochio, Michelangelo and Giambologna at the Bargello and Orsanmichele.
Day 5 (Friday)
Children
am Leonardo da Vinci Museum: Hands on activities, learn to manoeuvre a flying bicycle, crane and a machine gun.
Parents
am Church crawl to include Santa Felicita, Santa Trinita and Santi Apostoli.
pm Flight home.
