Venice Itinerary
Day 1 (Monday)
Flight to Venice and afternoon passeggiata to explore the area and introduction to the city.
Day 2 (Tuesday)
Children
am The wonders of water: Learn how and why Venice came to be and try your hand at mosaic making outside San Marco.
pm Palladio: Maths, Music and Architecture. Catch a boat to Il Redentore and San Giorgio Maggiore for a view of Venice from the top of the bell tower.
Parents
am An introduction to Venetian history: the Piazza San Marco, the Doge's Palace (outside) and the Basilica San Marco.
pm The Frari and Scuola di San Rocco: Phenomenal painting by the two giants of sixteenth century Venice Titian and Tintoretto, as well as neo-classical tomb sculpture by the daring Antonio Canova.
Day 3 (Wednesday)
Children
am The Frari and Scuola di San Rocco: Story telling with Titian and Tintoretto.
pm Drawing and Collage at the Peggy Guggenhiem Museum. An introduction to Picasso, Brancusi, Mondrian, Pollock and Calder.
Parents
am Venetian Painting at the Accademia: From Gothic altarpiece to Grand Tourist souvenir. Veneziano, Bellini, Cima, Mantegna, Giorgione, Lotto, Titian, Tintoretto, Veronese, Canaletto and Tiepolo.
pm Andrea Palladio at San Giorgio Maggiore and Il Redentore.
Day 4 (Thursday)
A day trip across the Lagoon; Apocalypse and Judgment in the dark days of Europe at the cathedral of Torcello, visit a glass factory on the island of Murano for a glass blowing demonstration and a picnic on the multicolored island of Burano. Have a go at decorating your own Venetian masks.
Day 5 (Friday)

am Venetian church crawl: The Story of St George at S.Giorgio dei Schiavone and the flooded crypt at S.Zaccaria.
