"I gained a passion and enthusiasm about art that has helped me decide where to head in life. what AHA provides is an infectious interest in self-education. AHA is a wonderful gap year option and far better than running off to Thailand or the like to 'find yourself' as so many people do."
Ella Hickson, Spring 2004
Italian Culture
Two, three hour Italian culture and conversation lessons, at the beginning of the course are included in the fees. This is an important aspect of the trip, not least because it is fun to try a new language, but also because a smattering of comprehension and the capacity to be courteous in Italian is a huge boost to the enjoyment of Italian life. Given the main thrust of the course to see as much as possible, we don't have the time to delve deep into foreign language tuition, but it is clear that since we started this element of the course, more students opt to stay on in Italy and enrole in language courses. We will happily suggest good language schools to anyone wishing to stay on in Italy.
