"I was not expecting to be with the eclectic mixture of individuals that shared this experience with me. I know I have made some friends for life. There is a magic in AHA tours that you never recapture. I have been inspired, encouraged and excited."

Phoenix from the Flames, Wren and Hawksmoor City Churches

The devastation of the Great Fire in 1666 was unprecedented. The opportunities however, were infinite. This day will be spent enjoying the wonderful city churches of Wren and Hawksmoor. With a pizzazz that virtually eclipses Charles II's swashbuckling court, Christopher Wren, architect, astronomer and genius, set about to rebuild the city. His protégée Nicholas Hawksmoor takes up this mantel and carries the English Baroque into its fullest form.
Throughout the day we will visit St Mary le Bow, St Mary Aldermary and St Stephen's Walbrook (Wren); St Mary's Woolnoth and Christ Church Spitalfieldsd (Hawksmoor). For those who can stay we will finish our church crawl with some more spiritual nourishment inside St Paul's for Evensong at 5pm. The interior of Wren's masterpiece is glorious and the cathedral choir is deemed one the best in Britain.
