"I was not expecting to be with the eclectic mixture of individuals that shared this experience with me. I know I have made some friends for life. There is a magic in AHA tours that you never recapture. I have been inspired, encouraged and excited."

Rubens in the Banqueting House and National Gallery
Rubens' Apotheosis of James I in the Banqueting House is one of Britain's most significant cycles of paintings. They are a coming of age of Britain as a civilised, cultured and powerful country that was beginning to stand tall in a Europe dominated by Rome, France and Spain. Little visited, this is a highlight of London. The building, designed by one of our most significant architects Inigio Jones, was also the infamous site for the decapitation of King Charles I.
After lunch we will head to the nearby National Gallery where we will continue to study the glorious paintings of Rubens and his celebrated pupil Van Dyck.
