"I see the trip as a rite of passage; a fundamental part of my education. I returned wiser...[and feel much more confident going into an arts degree] ...with such an understanding and a love for the arts behind me. I have also made friends I will keep for life. The experience was unforgettable. I LOVED IT."
Rebecca Udy, Spring 2003
Why? To see many of the greatest achievements in art, architecture and sculpture; to learn how these fit into the greater picture of Western Civilization; to find like minded friends as you travel through Italy and to have fun doing it.
Who? Open to all academic disciplines, suited to those on a Gap Year, undergraduates or post university students. Age range 18-25.
When?: August, November, January and April for six weeks each.
Where? Travel through Venice, Verona or Bologna, Florence, Siena or Perugia, Rome and Naples - cities whose names breathe art.
How? Based on tutorials of ten or fewer, conducted in front of paintings and sculpture and within the buildings which house them.
Every year, Art History Abroad takes students aged around 18-25 to the great art centres of Italy
Our tutors are young, unstuffy and expert, most of them Masters who know how to make the obvious extraordinary and the unusual captivating.
We have been going for over 20 years and we've built up a reputation for giving our students not what they expect but more than they could ever dream of - including private visits to places like the Basilica of St Mark's, Venice.
This is a voyage of discovery - six weeks that'll last you all your life. But don't just take our word for it. Almost all our new students come because they know someone who has been. Ask them if you like. We have a list of people who would not mind being called. Meanwhile, take a look at who we are and what we do, and decide what further questions you may have.
