"Your enthusiasm for the arts and for life as a whole will be an inspiration to me for the rest of my life. AHA has helped me to realize where I want to go. You have given me a future I could have never conceived on my own. It changes lives for the better."
Tom Sutcliffe, Spring 2006
The best of Italy
This is an extraordinary opportunity to experience Italy and the wealth of great things that this country has to offer.
Understand that a tuition ratio of 9:1 is an exceptional way of studying. Your line of sight will not be obscured, you can listen without straining. You can discuss, chat and ask questions about all and everything. You won’t feel like an audience being lectured to.
Everything on the timetable has been keenly worked out so that you can make the absolute most of your time abroad, you won’t have you head buried in guidebook. The itinerary is ever-changing, with the whims and wants of students and tutors alike.
You will so very rarely eat in a restaurant that is recommended by a guide book, such is our own local knowledge of superb, inexpensive trattorias.
There is a strong social element to the course. You will meet fascinating new people, from various backgrounds with different interests. Many people come on the course not knowing other people, a make life long friends. This is all fantastic preparation for university life.
Unique, individual, extraordinary moments occur on every course, these are just a few;
- A Late night in moonlit piazza, playing soccer with local waiters.
- High mass in a monastery set in a rock face.
- Lines of opera sung in the Sistine Chapel.
- The discovery of a Tintoretto canvas propped up against cloakroom wall.
