1st October 2026
Explore the remarkable rise of Frida Kahlo, whose art, life, and persona have made her a defining figure in global culture and one of the most recognised artists of the 20th century.
Frida: The Making of an Icon presents over 130 works, revealing the multiple facets of Kahlo’s identity: the devoted spouse, the intellectual, the innovative artist, and the political advocate. Alongside her iconic paintings, the exhibition features archival materials, photographs, personal memorabilia, as well as works by more than 80 artists influenced by her legacy. This exhibition explores the curious phenomenon of artistic fandom and highlights the wide-ranging communities that continue to embrace Frida as an icon.
The lecture by Tina Corri will prepare you for the exhibition so that you can make the most of your time in the gallery and gain the greatest insight into the works. Please join us for lunch afterwards at the Tate Modern Restaurant and Bar.
