An ode to Amore Dormiente

Love by traditional inkling:

A mischievous child with eyes twinkling.

Imagine instead

love lying half dead.

What was Caravaggio thinking?

Composed on AHA Spring Course, 08/2/11

The painting is Caravaggio’s ‘Sleeping Cupid’, painted in 1608 when the artist was based in Malta. It now hangs in the Pitti Palace in Florence.
