For those of you trying to save up your pennies to join a wonderful AHA course next year, you might want to check out our scholarship. The winner is awarded the worth of a 2-week summer course which they can use to join us during the summer or use towards a 6-week gap year course.

“But I don’t study History of Art…” No problem. Anyone, regardless of what they’re studying, is eligible to enter. In fact we encourage you to have a go. The more variety, the more interesting the competition! James, who studied Maths, Physics and Chemistry at A Level, clearly enjoyed himself on our Northern Summer Course:

“I had never imagined that as a maths guy, I would ever get to experience all the things I have over the last fortnight. It has opened my mind to a new way of thinking and it is like I’ve been given a different pair of eyes. I only wish it could have gone on forever.”

James, 2016 scholarship winner

OK, so how do you enter?…

All we ask is for you to write two 400-word essays. One on an artwork you love and one on an artwork you loathe. From the Mona Lisa to Banksy, Michelangelo’s David to The Shard, you can write about anything you want. We want to hear your thoughts on artwork that moves you in some way, that makes you smile or frown.

“…The generous prize of a place on the Northern Italy course ended up being two of the most exciting weeks of not just learning, but fun, imaginable… we all left as friends bonded by the truly unforgettable experience we shared in Italy while learning from the brilliant, engaging and knowledgeable tutors in an intellectually and socially stimulating environment… My only regret is that the course was not longer!”

Beatrice, 2017 scholarship winner
